Blinken held negotiations with Aliyev and Pashinyan

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken held telephone conversations with Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller made a written statement about these negotiations.

According to the statement, in a conversation with Aliyev, Blinken called on Baku to the immediate cessation of “hostilities” and restraint.

Having indicated the impossibility of a military decision, the Secretary of State invited Baku to solve problems with Armenians in Karabakh through dialogue.

According to him, President Aliyev noted that “he is ready to stop hostilities.” Blinken said that the parties should sit down at the negotiating table.

In a telephone conversation with Pashinyan, Blinken said: “We are disturbed by the development of events in Nagorno -Karabakh.”

Having stated that he calls for a dialogue with Azerbaijan, Blinken added: “The United States support sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Armenia.”

Press Secretary of the National Security Council of the White House, Edrienn Watson on his page on the social network X said:

“The United States is deeply concerned about the military operations of Azerbaijan in Nagorno -Karabakh. We urge Azerbaijan to immediately stop” military operations “that worsen the humanitarian situation, and begin dialogue with representatives of the people of the Nagorno -Karabakh”.
