The introduction of the “price ceiling” will aggravate the energy crisis in Europe on Russian gas. This opinion was expressed by the observer of Bloomberg agency Andreas Klut.
He is convinced that such restrictions will not help the European Union solve problems in the field of energy.
“Instead of indicating a painful problem, a new, artificially underestimated gas price will indicate that everything is in order. The incentive to reduce consumption will disappear. The demand will increase again, but without an additional offer. At some point. This winter, European gas storages will be empty, then the continent can be left without gas, ”writes Klut.
The author believes that the decision to which officials are inclined will aggravate the problems of the continent. In his opinion, the governments of European countries should “forget about the restrictions and allow the price to change on their own.” The task of governments should be to smooth out political, economic and social pressure by providing cash payments to those in need.
