Three boats disappeared in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean, on board of which were a total of at least 300 illegal migrants. This was reported by Reuters Elena Malen, a representative of the NPO Caminando Fronteras, engaged in the transportation of migrants to Europe.
According to her, the vessels were sent from Senegal to the Spanish Canary Islands. They moved away from the shores of the Kafontin region in the south of Senegal 15 days ago.
NB of one of the boats was about 200 people, on two other 65 and 60, she said.
Manyo expressed concern about the fate of the missing migrants.
Canary Islands off the coast of West Africa in recent years have become the main destination for migrants trying to get to Spain.
According to the International UN Migration Organization, at least 559 people, including 22 children, died in 2022, while trying to get to the Canary Islands.
