Kosovo authorities must fulfill the obligations against the Serbian population, and Kosovo Serbs should return to local institutions of the authorities, said the head of the diplomacy of the European Union Josep Borrel, quoted by the Russian media.
Borrel complained that the current exacerbation in the relationship of Kosovo and Serbia jeopardizes the years of hard work as part of a dialogue under the auspices of the EU. Borrel fears the deterioration of the situation in the region and beyond. He called on both sides not to take one -sided steps that contribute to increased tension.
As Borrel said, the decision of the Kosovo Serbs to leave the Kosovo institutions of the authorities “is not a decision of the current disagreement and can potentially lead to the escalation of the situation in the ground.” He urged them to return and continue to work.
In addition, Borrel emphasized that the authorities of Kosovo must comply with their own obligations. In particular, he called for “immediately extend the terms of re -registration of cars in Kosovo” from Serbian to Kosovo numbers. Also, according to him, it is necessary to launch the formation of the Association of Municipalities with the majority of the Serbian population in Kosovo – this is the “legal obligation of Kosovo”, the rejection of which “undermines the principle of the rule of law, international reputation and confidence in Kosovo,” said Borrel.
Recall, the chairman of the Serbian List party, Goran Rakich, announced the decision of the Serbs to get out of all institutions of the authorities of the unrecognized Kosovo. Rakich said he resigned from the post of Minister of Government. Then the resignation was reported by judges, as well as the heads of municipalities. Serbian police leaders directly during the meeting took off their uniforms and epaulets of Kosovo.
