The head of the European Union Diplomacy, Josep Borrel, calls on the EU member countries to increase the volume of military assistance to Ukraine by 500 million euros, up to 2 billion euros, Bloomberg said with reference to informed sources.
According to the agency, Borrel “pushes the member countries (EU) to an increase in the volume of military assistance to Ukraine, which the bloc will finance by 500 million euros ($ 522 million), up to two billion euros.”
It is noted that the EU countries have not yet given their consent to this proposal, and Germany was one of the opponents of this idea at the past week. The expenses of the EU member countries for the supply of military assistance to Ukraine are reimbursed by the European Fund of the World (EPF), the agency emphasized.
The representative of the Boral refused to provide a comment, the publication said. It is also noted that, as expected, the proposal to allocate an additional amount of funds will be discussed at a meeting of EU foreign ministers next week.
