The EU Supreme Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrel assured that the European Union does not want the “destruction” of Russia.
He stated this in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El Periódico.
“We do not support Ukraine in order to make political changes in Russia, and, frankly, we do not want the destruction of Russia,” the diplomat assured.
According to him, not all European countries are equally related to the conflict.
“there is a country that is very skeptical of the consequences of sanctions, which believes that they do not act and that they did not need to introduce them, because we shot it in the leg. I did not share this analysis, but this country voted for All proposals for sanctions. She is skeptical, she does not believe in them, but does not violate unity, ”said Borrel.
The head of the EU diplomacy did not exclude that the community approach in the situation in Ukraine was “too gradual.”
“certainly, it would be better if, instead of spending three months on discussion, or not not to send Leopard tanks, they would be sent earlier,” he said.
According to the fighter, “Russia is able to carry out weapons and it has much higher reserves than we had and which we very quickly exhausted.”
“We know what we have. We know that so far these ammunition is enough,” he said, urging the pace of production and use the reserves that EU member states have.
“We will produce more ammunition, but while there is production, give Ukraine what is,” said the diplomat.
