In the traditional morning summary of the British Ministry of Defense on the hundredth day of the war, they decided to remember how the Russian invasion began and think about what will happen next.
Firstly, Russia failed to achieve its initial goals: to capture Kyiv and Ukrainian state governance centers. Thanks to the stubborn resistance of the Ukrainians and the failure in the capture of the GOSTEL airfield, the offensive was reflected in the first 24 hours.
Secondly, after the failure of the initial plan due to erroneous assumptions in the planning and flawed tactical execution of these plans, the concept of the operation changed and concentrated in the Donbass.
Thirdly, in the Donbass, Russia is currently achieving tactical success. Russian troops keep the initiative in the offensive.
fourthly, at the moment, Russia controls more than 90% of the territory of the Luhansk region. In the next two weeks, she will probably be able to bring this figure to 100%. But this will be achieved by the cost of a large consumption of resources, as well as due to the concentration of forces and firing funds on one small section of the campaign.
On other fronts and directions, Russia failed to realize any maneuvers or movements, and they moved to defense, British intelligence notes. Compared with the original plan, not one of the strategic goals has been achieved. In order for Russia to achieve success at least in some form, huge investments of human and material resources and a lot of extra time will be required.
