Even before the full -scale invasion of the Russian Federation to Ukraine in February 2022, the territories of the “people’s republics” of Donbass were a serious load for Russian finances, the British Ministry of Defense said.
“Now that the Kremlin openly announced their support, they will probably bring large political, diplomatic and financial costs for Russia, which will last much longer than the current phase of the conflict,” British intelligence notes.
