The British Ministry of Defense devoted a morning summary of the situation in Ukraine to hold a referendum on the accession of the territory of the self -proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” to Russia, writes the Air Force.
On August 11, Russian media reported that the head of the so -called “DPR” Denis Pushilin said that the date of the referendum on joining Russia would be announced after its “complete liberation” recalls the British Ministry of Defense. Earlier, reporting journalists have published evidence that in the self-proclaimed “DPR” it is planned to hold such a referendum, the results of which should provide at least 70% of the vote for accession to Russia, the British military department noted. The fact that such plans exist in July reported with reference to the documents received from Ukrainian intelligence Radio Liberty.
It is likely that Moscow has significantly advanced in planning a referendum, although it is still unclear whether the final decision on its holding has been made, the British Ministry of Defense notes. The Kremlin is likely to regard the inability of the Russian military to completely capture the Donetsk region as failure to achieve their maximalist goals in Ukraine, according to the British military department. So far, a significant part of the territory of the Donetsk region is still under the control of Ukraine.
