Researchers from the University of Leeds in the UK found out how often people who have not vaccinated are chosen. This is reported by the GUARDIAN newspaper.
Scientists stated that the unvaccinated mischief of COVID-19 on average once every 16 months, and the total period of re-infection ranges from three months to five years.
As noted by the publication, immunity to coronavirus is reduced over time, which can lead to cases of re-infection.
Specialists analyzed well-known repeated infections and immunological data from other coronaviruses, including SARS, MERS and a cold virus. By combining this with data on antibodies and other immunological data of people who recovered from COVID-19, they were able to simulate the risk of re-infection. Work showed that repeated infections will become more and more common as immunity weaken. As scientists told, an average of an unvacuated person will become infected every 16 months,
In addition, Guardian refers to the study of scientists from Denmark, which showed that persons under 65 are protected from re-infection by 80% for at least six months, while people over 65 are protected by only 47%.
