Marshal of Royal Air Force Air Force, the former general director of the UK Defense Academy of Defense, Edward Stringer, said that although he previously thought that the war in Ukraine would continue next year now changed his mind. The British military said about this in an interview with Sky.
The reason, according to him, is in the current situation at the front, which does not bode well for the Russian military. “I always thought it would last next year. Now I think it is possible. No one wants to say that it will end for Christmas, but now it is possible, the collapse of the Russian army can happen,” the military BBC quotes.
Stringer estimated the likelihood of such a development of events at 30-40%. “I do not see that the Russians can restore their forces in order to seize the initiative again and go on the offensive again,” says Stringer.
“Now we are observing how all this will develop in the field, and there is a hope that Zelensky will be in a position when he can start negotiations on favorable terms,” the military said.
According to Stringer, perhaps Zelensky will even be able to return to Ukraine all the territories captured by Russia.
