Bulgaria can become completely independent of Russian gas by the end of 2022, said Bulgaria Prime Minister Kirill Petkov, Kommersant reports.
According to him, Bulgaria has already found alternative gas suppliers. Petkov discussed this topic during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The Bulgarian prime minister said that the optimal use of gas infrastructure in the region will help energy diversification not only of its country, but also in the Balkans. “At the end of the year, Bulgaria may be independent of Russian gas,” Petkov said.
Bulgarian Prime Minister called the cessation of gas supply by Russia “Bindlop” and “racketeering”. In May, Bulgaria agreed to supply gas from the United States at prices lower than that of Gazprom. According to Financial Times, Germany and Greece will also grow to Bulgaria.
