In the case of delays in the construction of the gas interconnectator between Greece and Bulgaria (IGB), Bulgargaz Bulgarian State Company will have to lead urgent negotiations on the continuation of the supply of Azerbaijani gas on an alternative route. According to Haqqin.az, this is stated in the company’s message.
According to the report, Azerbaijani gas is currently delivered to Bulgaria according to an alternative route due to delays in the construction of IGB. Bulgaria receives about 350 million cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan per year, although 1 billion cubic meters per year has been agreed. The term of the agreement with Azerbaijan expires June 30, 2022.
Bulgargaz said that after July 1, 2022 there would be a need to hold new negotiations on the continuation of gas supplies to an alternative route from Azerbaijan in the event of a delay in the commissioning of the gas interconnector with Greece and Bulgaria (IGB).
As you know, the IGB gas pipeline project from Greece to Bulgaria is implemented by ICQB AD registered in Bulgaria in 2011. The shareholders of this company are BEX EAD and IGI Poseidon, with equity participation of 50 percent each.
