Bulgarian and Turkish fighters accompanied passenger plane due to threat of an explosion

Bulgarian and Turkish fighters accompanied a passenger plane from Romania after a report of the alleged explosive on board, Bulgarian media write.

According to information, in the afternoon of May 11, 2022, the fighter on duty from the Count Ignatievo air base flew to the aid of a passenger aircraft, since a signal was given about the possible presence of an explosive device on board.

It is noted that the Bulgarian pilots took control of a civilian aircraft from Romanian colleagues, accompanied it over the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and transferred it to Turkish fighters. Bulgarian crews have completed all procedures in accordance with the requirements of national and international legislation on air control and protection of airspace, reports the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria.

Later, the passenger plane, accompanied by successfully landed in Istanbul without consequences for passengers and crew.
