“Bulgaria calculates in September 2022 to receive Azerbaijani gas on the Greece-Bolgaria interconnector.” This was stated during a visit to Greece by the Bulgarian Prime Minister KIPILE Petkov.
He recalled that at the end of June the interconnector will be commissioned and Azerbaijani gas will go from September.
“For Bulgaria, this will mean lower prices and greater energy independence,” he added, noting that the reason for the growth of gas prices last winter is the impossibility of transporting Azerbaijani gas through this interconnector.
Recall that at the end of March 2022 it became known that the interconnector was already connected to the transdriatic gas pipeline (TAP), which in the future will first give Bulgaria access to gas from Azerbaijan. The launch of the interconnector is planned for July 2022, which will allow Bulgaria to directly receive Azerbaijani gas – 1 billion cubic meter of gas per year with a further increase to a design capacity of 3 billion cubic meters per year.
Earlier today, April 27, Gazprom completely suspended gas supply to Bulgargaz (Bulgaria) and PGNIG (Poland) due to their refusal to pay for gas in rubles.
