The German Ministry of Defense spent 4.3 billion euros last year than planned in the defense budget.
At a press conference in Berlin, the representative of the Ministry of Defense called the reason for the non-use of 4.3 billion euros delay in the production of military equipment.
Of this amount, 2.6 billion euros were not used from the special fund of the Armed Forces of Germany (Bundeswehr), and 1.7 billion euros from the defense budget for 2024.
Last year, Germany allocated 90.8 billion euros for the needs of the Ministry of Defense, the press secretary said, adding that this corresponds to 2.1 percent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). According to him, defense costs correspond to the target indicator of NATO 2 percent.
