By 2050, World Production Of Natural Gas Will Reach 5.32 Trillion Cubic Meters

In response to the growing world demand for natural gas, an increase in production by 1.24 trillion cubic meters is predicted compared to 2023, which will reach the level of 5 trillion 317 billion cubic meters by 2050.

According to the report of the GAZ Exporting countries (GECF), the prospects for 2050, in 2050, the world production of natural gas will increase by 31 percent compared to 2023.

It is expected that until 2030 natural gas production will grow by 1.6 percent per year, then will decrease to 1 percent in the 2030s and to 0.6 percent in the 2040s.

The Middle East will be the leader in gas production in 2023-2050

forecasts for the extraction of natural gas in the regions for the period from 2023 to 2050 show a variety of trends due to the presence of regional resources and the dynamics of the market.

According to forecasts, the Middle East will become the leader in the absolute growth of gas production. At the same time, Africa is expected to demonstrate the highest growth rates and will significantly strengthen its position in world natural gas markets.

It is expected that in the period until 2050, the production of natural gas in the Middle East will increase by about 461 billion cubic meters. This will be due to the presence of significant reserves, the expansion of infrastructure and the orientation of the region on low -carbon gas solutions.

The Middle East follows Eurasia, where an increase in production by 362 billion cubic meters is predicted. This growth will be stimulated, in particular, an increase in production in Russia and programs for the use of gas in the Asian markets.

It is expected that natural gas production in Africa will increase by 250 billion cubic meters, which emphasizes the importance of the region as a growing supplier. This growth is supported by an increase in investment in the infrastructure of LNG and pipelines.

It is expected that in the period until 2050, North America will increase the production of natural gas to a relatively modest 107 billion cubic meters.

According to forecasts, in the Asia-Pacific region and Latin America, the volume of production will increase by 91 billion cubic meters. m and 87 billion cubic meters. m, respectively. This is facilitated by local demand and expansion of infrastructure.

On the contrary, the production of natural gas in Europe will be reduced by 119 billion cubic meters due to depletion of resources and refusing fossil fuel, which is associated with the policy of sustainable development and the transition to renewable energy sources.

By 2050, it is expected that natural gas production in North America will reach 1 trillion 382 billion cubic meters, which will allow the continent to maintain its position of the largest mining region. The Eurasia predicts the production of production up to 1 trillion 208 billion cubic meters, and in the Middle East – up to 1 trillion 155 billion cubic meters.
