Israel is widely criticized for unwilling to supply weapons to Ukraine, but ultimately it may turn out to be one of the countries that will benefit from the Russian-Ukrainian war, writes The Jerusalem Post.
According to the author of the article, Russia is the second largest weapon exporter in the world according to the Stockholm International Institute for Research of Peace Problems, but this may well change. Russia will have to switch to domestic production to reimburse huge losses, but this will be difficult in connection with the termination of the supply of components brought from abroad, especially electronics. At the end of the armed conflict, both for political and practical reasons, the number of buyers of Russian products will be reduced, which demonstrated annoying shortcomings. The fact that it is bad in the Russian defense industry, to the hands of competitors, including Israel, China, France, Germany and South Korea, which will strive to fill in the gap not only in quantity, but also, as the events in Ukraine showed, the publication notes.
In addition, Israel is studying the possibility of additional benefits in an armed conflict in Ukraine. According to The Jerusalem Post, Israel, Egypt and the European Union are negotiating the export of Israeli natural gas to Europe to help to replenish the deficit related to the restriction of supplies from Russia and sanctions.
