Canada Foreign Ministry Condemned Execution Of His Citizens In China

At the beginning of 2025, several Canadian citizens were executed in China. This was reported in the Canadian Foreign Ministry.

Press Secretary of the Canadian Foreign Affairs Charlotte Maclaud in a written statement by Anadol confirmed this fact.

“We can confirm that at the beginning of this year several Canadian citizens were executed in China,” the department said.

Maclaud emphasized that Canada resolutely condemns the death of the death penalty in China, calling it irreversible and contrary to human dignity.

She also stated that Canada made attempts to have pardon at the highest level and will continue to counteract the death penalty in any circumstances and in any country.

Having expressed support for the external families, Maclaud urged to respect their right to private life.

The spokesman also noted that Canada continues to seek pardon for his citizen Robert Schellenberg, who, after 15 years of imprisonment in China, was repeatedly convicted and sentenced to death.

However, she refused to report additional details.

In China, more people are executed annually than in all other countries of the world combined. According to estimates, the annual number of executed is about 2 thousand people, however, the exact data is classified as a state secret.
