Political scientist Yevgeny Mintschenko expressed the opinion that the deputy chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev significantly strengthened his positions “in 2022 and today is the” main candidate “to the successors of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
On the eve of Medvedev, in his programmatic article, he outlined the goals of the so -called “military operation”, including the “complete demilitarization of the Ukrainian state.” He also called those who wish to defeat their country “traitors” and said that “new agreements on disarmament are not needed now.”
“While the basic scenario – Putin goes to the elections in 2024 and wins them. Of course, according to another scenario, Medvedev is a candidate for successors number one,” the expert said in an interview with NSN.
He noted that Putin is always watching different options, but if we talk about the strengthening of politicians, this year he sees “the undoubted growth of Dmitry Medvedev and the head of government Mikhail Mishustin, as well as the explosive growth of Ramzan Kadyrov.” Among other politicians whose influence intensified, he called the Secretary of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, deputy head of the presidential administration Sergei Kiriyenko.
But he called Medvedev “one of the most trusted associates” of Vladimir Putin, who did not leave the big policy. According to the expert, this is proved by the fact that it was Medvedev “acted as a communicator with China.”
Mintchenko also explained that in addition to writing posts in the Telegram channel Medvedev, “Conducts a lot of work”, which is not advertised, but is very important. In particular, he noted that it was Medvedev that accompanies the “reconfigure of the military-industrial complex”.
