Chairman Of Council Of Council Of Russian Federation: Relations Of Moscow And Baku Grew Into Strategic Partnership

Thanks to the efforts of the Presidents of the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, the relations of the two countries have grown into strategic partnership and allies. This was stated by the speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament Valentin Matvienko at an extended meeting with the chairman of the Milli Majlis (parliament) of Azerbaijan Sahibo Gafarova, TASS reports.

Matvienko said that during a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, as part of an official visit to the delegation of the upper house of the Russian parliament to Baku, he gave him greetings from the President of Russia.

“Thanks to their [presidents] efforts, thanks to their will in recent years, we have built our relations to the highest level, they have already grown into relations of strategic partnership and allied,” Matvienko said. She noted that at the same time everyone remembers well that at the origins of the development of relations between the two countries there was a national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, who is honored and remembered in Russia.
