The chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili signed the law “On family values and the protection of minors.”
“Today, in accordance with the Constitution of Georgia, I sign the law” On family values and the protection of minors “, which was not signed by Salome Zurabishvili,” wrote the chairman of the Georgian parliament in the social network
“The law that I sign does not reflect current, temporary, changing ideas and ideologies, but is based on common sense, historical experience and centuries -old Christian, Georgian and European values,” he said.
Papuashvili pointed out that he well understood that the signing of this law would cause criticism from some foreign partners. “But Georgians were never afraid of other people’s assessments, when our faith, common sense and devotion to the country obliged us, and when we saw that civilizational currents were heading into the wrong direction. This helped us go through millennia. So we retained our identity. Time we see abroad millions of people whose moods coincide with the spirit of this law, ”he added.
On the eve of Georgia President Salome Zurabishvili did not sign a package of bills “On family values and minors’ protection” and returned it to parliament.
Salome Zurabishvili not only did not sign the bill, but did not apply a veto on it. Thus, the package was signed by the chairman of the parliament.
Earlier, the law “On family values and the protection of minors” was approved by the parliament of Georgia in the third reading and unanimously adopted by the majority – 84 votes.
The legislative package consists of 19 bills. The main one is the project “On family values and the protection of minors”, and the remaining 18 are bills arising from it. The purpose of the law is to strengthen family values based on the union of men and women, as well as minors protecting mechanisms.
In particular, the document provides for a ban on registering any relationship, except for the Union between a man and a woman, as well as any medical manipulations for the change of sex.
