The Chechen detachment arrived in Ukraine under the leadership of Abdul-Khakim Shishani (Rustama Azhiev), which previously commanded the Ajnad Al-Caucasus group, foreign media reported.
It is reported that the Ajnad al-Caucasus group previously fought in Syria against government forces. Rustam Azhiev and approximately half of his detachment, who fought in Syria, will participate in the war as part of a separate special purpose battalion of the Armed Forces of the “Chechen Republic of Ichkeria”, which is part of the international legion of Ukraine.
