The Ministry of Defense of the CSHA transferred the Congress of the National Defense Strategy for 2022. Information about this was published on the Pentagon website on March 28.
The document determines how the US defense department will help promote and protect the national interests of the United States. Russia and China are named in the strategy by the main “sustainable threats” for states.
One of the main directions of American defense is “the containment of aggression, willingness to victory in conflict, when necessary, in priority – the challenge of the PRC in the Indo-Pacific region and the challenge of Russia in Europe.”
“The Pentagon will act urgently to strengthen the containment of the People’s Republic of China as the most important strategic competitor. Russia is a sharp threat, as evidenced by its cruel and unprovised invasion of Ukraine. We will cooperate with our allies and NATO partners to strengthen Reliable containment in the face of Russian aggression, “- indicated in the strategy. In addition, the US Defense Ministry still keeps constant threats on the part of the DPRK, Iran and Militant Extremist Organizations.
In the Financing section, it is proposed to allocate $ 682 million for Ukraine for $ 219 million more compared to 2021 – to “continue confrontation between Russian hostile activity” and meeting the needs of the country in the field of security, energy, cybersecurity. At the same time, $ 1.8 billion should go to ensure the “free and open, associated, safe” Indo-Pacific region and $ 400 million to counter the “malicious activity” of the PRC.
