Researchers of the army center in Chinese Chunchin conducted tests of hypersonic bullets to understand how they act on a person, writes Asia Times.
The military experienced 5 mm steel bullets at a speed of 11 max on the strewn pigs. After the tests, it turned out that the hit of hypersonic bullets caused pigs heavy injuries throughout the body. Damage to internal organs and bones were especially extensive.
ordinary bullets, as a rule, shoot at a speed of 1200 meters per second, which allows them to break through the goals. However, the speed of hypersonic shells is almost three times higher than usual, on the verge of the melting temperature of steel. This reduces their penetration ability and makes it almost impossible to use ordinary pistols.
hypersonic shells can break through the latest protection, and it is almost impossible to knock them down. There is no explosives in them, which at the same time makes them safer in circulation.
For firing these shells, special “rails” are needed. They use electromagnetic energy to accelerate shells to hypersonic speeds, seven times higher than the speed of sound, and ten times higher than the range of traditional firearms. Returients belong to the kinetic type of weapon, that is, only speed is used, not explosives.
