China announced the test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBR) towards the Pacific Ocean.
In the statement of the Ministry of Defense of China, it is clarified that the missile with imitation of the combat part fell in a predetermined section of the Pacific Ocean.
As the message says, the launch became the routine part of the annual training program of the Chinese army and was carried out in accordance with international law and practices, not aiming at any countries.
The statement does not indicate which part of the ocean the rocket got into.
Ballistic missiles, the range of which exceeds 5500 kilometers, are classified as “intercontinental”. The most modern intercontinental ballistic missile of China is “Dunfan (Eastern Wind) 41” (DF -41), which has a range of 12 to 15 thousand kilometers.
China for the first time experienced an intercontinental ballistic missile in the southern part of the Pacific in 1980.
