China: In First Quarter Of Year There Is An Increase In Cross -border Trips

cross -border trips in China in the first quarter of this year increased by 15.3 % compared to the same period of 2024. This was reported in the State Office for Immigration Affairs (Gui) of China.

According to Gui, in January -March of 2025, 163 million trips were made through the State border of China in both directions. The total number of trips increased by 15.3 % compared to last year.

The number of trips made in the period under consideration by citizens living in mainland China increased by 15.4%to 80.27 million, by foreigners – by 33.4%, to 17.44 million, and by residents of special administrative regions, Hong Kong and Macau – by 11.2%, up to 65.72 million

The growth of the number of foreign trips was due to the visa -free regime, which China introduced for short -term trips to many countries in the second half of 2024.
