Chisinau and Paris discussed ways to intensify defense cooperation

Minister of Defense of Moldova Anatoly Nosyaty and State Secretary of the Department of Defense Policy Valeriu Mizh met with a delegation of the Ministry of Armed Forces of France.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Moldova, French officials arrived in Moldova as part of participation in the First Moldavian-French strategic dialogue in the field of defense and the Moldovan-French bilateral consultations in the military sphere.

Topics of strategic dialogue – the current situation with security in the region, reforming the defense sector, the transformation and modernization of the Moldova Army, as well as an increase in the stability of state institutions and the ability to manage various types of crises.

In addition, the chief of the General Staff of the National Army Brigadier Eduard Pordchuk accepted a representative of the French defense department, Rear Admiral Luke Reynal, responsible for Euro-Atlantic international relations.

We discussed the current state of bilateral relations of cooperation in the field of defense, the ways of their intensification, including the help of the French side by the development of the defense institution and the priorities of the integrated strengthening of national defense capabilities.

Specialists of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Moldova also took part in bilateral meetings.

The first strategic dialogue in the field of defense and the Moldovan-French bilateral consultations in the military sector are held as part of an intergovernmental agreement signed in Paris on March 7 of this year.
