Chisinau will work with European partners to bring Moldova to the EU.
About this, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova (Foreign Ministry), Nick Popescu announced during a working visit to Brussels on the eve of the meeting of the European Council on December 14-15, Moldipers reports.
During the visit, Moldavian Minister held meetings with both European representatives and colleagues from the EU countries, including Luminitsa Audescu (Romania), Xavier Bettel (Luxembourg), Gabrielus Landsbergis (Lithuania), Margs Tsakhna (Estonia), Krishyanis Karinsh (Latvia), Yurai Blanar (Slovakia) and Anna Lurmann (Germany).
A meeting was held with the General Director of the EU on neighborhood and expansion by Gertho-Jamu Kurman and his team.
“We discussed the recommendations of the European Commission on the beginning of negotiations with the Republic of Moldova on the entry and the following necessary steps in the process of accession, paying special attention to the continuous reform of the judicial system and the deoligarchization process,” said Nick Popescu.
The head of the Moldavian Foreign Ministry held meetings with the advisers on foreign policy of the Chairman of the European Council Charles Michel Simon Mordu and Magdalen Grono.
In addition, Popescu met with colleagues from the regional initiative of GUAM – Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova.
The Minister condemned Ilya Darchiashvili, Dmitry Kuleboy and Jahun Bayramov Regional Security, trade and economic cooperation and the process of entering the candidate countries into the European Union.
The visit took place in the context in which the European Commission recommended that the Republic of Moldova begin negotiations on joining the European Union.
The final decision on the topic should be made at the level of the heads of the EU state and government in the European Council.
