Moldova Foreign Ministry confirms the determination to strengthen the partnership of the Republic with the UN, continue to implement the goals of sustainable development for the benefit of their citizens and maintain global and regional initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security and prosperity.
This is stated in the message of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Mikhail Popshaya on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the republic’s entry into the UN.
“Moldova celebrates the 33rd anniversary of the UN, which was a significant moment, thanks to which our country not only received the right to fully participate in the multidimensional activities of the organization, but also actively joined in cooperation with member states, enshrined in the UN Charter: maintaining the international world and security, and observance of human rights and basic freedoms,”- He emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to him, since the entry into the UN, Moldova has been constant for the organization’s constant support in key spheres – from strengthening democratic institutions and protecting human rights to economic and social development. The UN also helps the republic cope with global challenges, such as climate change and humanitarian crises.
Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Moldova, as responsible and devoted to the principles of international cooperation, a member of the UN, is actively involved in decision-making processes, contributes to peacekeeping missions and supports efforts to strengthen international stability. The country promotes a dialogue based on the principles of versatility, solidarity and cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the UN partners for constant support and confirmed Moldova’s commitment to building a more peaceful, prosperous and fair world.
Moldova became a member of the UN on March 2, 1992. The organization performs a wide range of tasks, including peacekeeping operations, preventing conflicts, humanitarian assistance and development. The UN also provides a global platform for solving key challenges of our time – from sustainable development and climate change to the fight against terrorism, disarmament and protection of human rights.
