The director of the Central Intelligence Department (CIA) William Burns met last week in Kiev with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, reports CNN with reference to sources.
According to the TV channel, Burns, “consulted with colleagues from intelligence in connection with the concerns of the” invasion of Russia’s invasion to Ukraine, “and also discussed with the Green Current situation and possible measures to deoxulate tension.
According to the official, the visit was scheduled in advance. CNN notes that Burns performed the tasks of a key mediator between the United States, Russia and Ukraine for several months. In particular, at the beginning of November, during a visit to Moscow, he talked on the telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin to “express the US concern about the US actions of the Russian Federation.” Burns also called on the US administration to vigilance regarding Russia’s plans in Ukraine.
