In the coming decades, the world faces the global military conflict due to climate change on the planet, the CIA report said in the published report.
In the opinion of the authors, “climatic clashes” will begin in the world, under which the parties will apply technologies against each other, reinforcing natural disasters like droughts and floods. We are talking about first of all geo-engineering technologies.
“The enhancing physical consequences of climate change may aggravate cross-border geopolitical hotspots, since states are taking steps to protect their interests. Most countries will face a difficult economic choice and will likely to count on a technological breakthrough to quickly reduce their emissions later. China And India will play a decisive role in determining the temperature increase trajectory, “is noted in the document.
In addition, the authors of the report announced the risk of domestic conflicts in developing countries due to the consequences of climate change, as these states are less able to adapt to new conditions.
Among the possible future hot spots in the climatic war are called regions such as Congo, Ind, Mekong and Neal Pools. Conflicts there may occur due to changes in the river bed and redirect water flow.
The report lists 11 countries to which the negative consequences of global climate change are strongest. According to analysts, these states may go to extreme measures for survival. This, in particular, is about China’s own weapons, India and Pakistan, as well as Afghanistan, DPRK, Myanmar and a number of Central and South America.
