A group of American lawyers and journalists sued the Central Intelligence Directorate (CIA) and former director of Mike Pompeo for illegal collection of information and espionage for the founder of WikiLeaks Julian Assange, Bloomberg reports.
According to the plaintiffs, American intelligence illegally copied data from electronic devices of journalists and lawyers when they visited Assange at Ecuador Embassy in London. Visitors to the embassy had to hand over their equipment for security, the leadership of which was carried out by the Spanish agency UC Global. According to the plaintiffs, the Spaniards collaborated with American intelligence. The CIA refused to comment on the claim.
