Columbia: Another 66 Military, Held By Militarized Group Were Freed

In Colombia, another 66 military, forcibly detained by militarized groups on August 10.

According to the Colombian media, in the situation with the detention of the military who conducted an operation in rural areas near the city of San Jose-del Gayavyar, representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and Ombudsman’s office intervened.

After the army filed a signal for the operation, members of the group handed over to representatives of the NGO and the Ombudsman office of another 66 military men.

According to the media, the detention of the military are members of the former revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc).

According to the army of Colombia, in general, members of the group detained 106 military personnel, 40 of which were liberated on August 11.
