Conflict In Ukraine: 3 Years Later, Ukrainians Cannot Forget Beginning Of War

3 years after the start of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the war remains part of the daily reality of millions of Ukrainians. Destroyed cities, lost lives and forced relocation became the tragic consequences of the conflict, which changed not only the map of Eastern Europe, but also the fate of the whole generation.

According to the UN, 10.6 million Ukrainians are currently displaced persons. This is almost a quarter of the country’s pre -war population. About 6.9 million Ukrainian immigrants found refuge in countries such as Turkey, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, etc. Some Ukrainians are returning to their homeland, despite the situation in the region, but millions still remain in other countries, without knowing, without knowing, without knowing. Will they ever be able to return home.

One of those who still returned to their homeland, contrary to everything, was a resident of the Kyiv region of Ukraine Marina Shilpako.

“The war destroyed the integrity of every family”

“This is one of the many stories. And, believe me, not the most sad. But it has a place to be. Because the war in Ukraine hooked every Ukrainian family, destroyed its integrity. Husbands, fathers, brothers go to the front, and women massively They go abroad or stay, but live in anticipation, ”Marina shared.

Prior to the start of the conflict, Marina Shilpayko lived in the Kyiv region with her husband and two children aged 3 and 8 years. In December 2022, the family moved to Turkish Antalya for a while, but a few months later returned home, despite all the difficulties.

”My husband was not in the country during a full -scale invasion, he was in Australia on a business trip. But he returned. And now we understand that it was our global mistake. Then we had the hope that it would end quickly. We are quickly. We thought there would be a few days of fear, and then a retreat, and everything will fall into place.

The hardest thing is psychologically. The feeling that you do not live, but just survive ”

According to Marina, even in those regions that are not in the immediate zone of hostilities, life is not like a peaceful one. In October 2022, massive missile strikes began in Kyiv and the Kyiv region.

“from my city in 9 km there is a TRIPOL TPP. It began to be sheated on October 13. Plus, the lights of light began, which means the Internet, water, sometimes heating … It was hell, not life. Psychologically unbearable,” the Ukrainian noted. .

Marina recalls that sometimes she could not leave the apartment for three days, because the house was on the 9th floor and the elevator did not work when turning off the light. With a small child in his arms, it was simply impossible or physically difficult.

“But even harder psychologically. The feeling that you do not live, but simply survive. And even this could end at any moment, we could just die,” she said.

Against the backdrop of all these difficulties, fate gave the Ukrainian a chance. The company for which she worked offered her move to Turkey.
