The Constitutional Court of Armenia recognized the joint regulation regulating the principles of the commissions of the two countries on the demarcation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia corresponding to the Constitution.
According to the official information agency of Armenia “Armenpress”, the regulation was discussed on Thursday in the Constitutional Court and was recognized as relevant to the Armenian Constitution.
“The obligations set forth in the Regulation on the joint activities of the Commission for the Demarry of the State Border and Border Security between the Republic of Armenia and the Azerbaijan Republic and the State Commission for Demarge of the State Border between the Azerbaijan Republic and the Republic of Armenia” signed on August 30, 2024, comply with the Constitution “, – said in the statement of the Constitutional Court.
What happened?
Creating a commission to determine the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia was agreed at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikola Pashinyan in Sochi in November 2021.
The Demarration of the Borders of Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on the situation at the meeting held in the Gaza-Zhvansky district on November 30, 2023, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Azerbaijan Shakhin Mustafaev and Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mger Grigoryan.
The Armenian government approved this decision on September 5, and then sent it to the Constitutional Court.
