Edirne (AA) – the construction of a new bridge across the Merich (Evros) River between the border points of Ipsal in Turkey and Kipi in Greece will begin this year.

Sezer reported a project that will speed up the process of crossing the border between the border outposts.
During the visit of the governor, his deputy Eyuup Batuhan Dzhigerji, the head of the Omer district, Sevgili, the head of the provincial gendarmerie, Colonel Haji Ali Bube, the head of the provincial police, ONUR Karaburun and the director of the provincial department for migration, Musa Ashlyoglu.

The Turkish part of the bridge will be built by the Main Directorate of Roads, and Greek – the Greek government.
The second bridge, the construction of which will begin this year, is designed to accelerate passenger and freight transportation.
The main length of the bridge, technical work on which is carried out by the 1st regional department of roads, will be 811 meters, and part above the river – 344 meters. The bridge will be built as a 4-strip in the form of a double bypass, will also have an emergency road and sidewalks.
The existing two -lane bridge, built in 1958, to ensure a passage across the river between the border outposts, cannot satisfy the car traffic growing each time between the two countries.
