Poland Consulate General in St. Petersburg closed 52 years later, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland on Wednesday, January 8.
On Wednesday, January 8, the closing ceremony of the consular representative office of the Republic of Poland in St. Petersburg with the participation of the Polish ambassador to Russia Kshishtof Kraevsky was held, follows from the message.
“The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in St. Petersburg was closed after Russia withdrew consent to the operation of the Polish facility. This is a response to the decision of the Polish Foreign Minister to close the Consulate General of Russia in Poznani after identifying cases of sabotage in Poland related to Russian authorities, ”the press service noted.
In the diplomatic mission, Polish diplomats also thanked, who with great dedication have fulfilled their mission over the past 3 years after the start of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Ambassador Kraevsky expressed the hope that the Polish consular mission will return to St. Petersburg in the “best times”. Polish representative offices in Moscow, Kaliningrad and Irkutsk are still operating in Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on December 5 handed over to the Polish side a note, notifying that as a response to the closure of the Polish authorities of the Russian Consulate General in Personan, the Russian side recalls its consent to the functioning of the Polish Consulate General in St. Petersburg .
