On Wednesday, November 20, within the framework of SOR29, the first ministerial meeting was held in Baku to improve climatic activities in the tourist sector.
The event discussed the “Initiative to improve climate for tourism”.
The COP29 declaration on the improvement of climatic actions in the tourist sector has also been adopted, which has been joined by more than 50 countries and 8 non -state actors.
General Secretary of the World Tourist Organization, UN Zurab Pololikashvili in his speech, noted the importance of joint efforts to combat climate change, the Cop29 Baku declaration on the improvement of climatic actions in the tourist sector ”and supporting the Glazgovo declaration as a rotary point of the moment for the sector. “Together we must ensure that tourism becomes the driving force of not only economic growth, but also environmental protection and global solidarity,” he added.
“The COP29 declaration on the improvement of climatic actions in the tourist sector” determines the best integration of this industry as a key goal into the national and global climatic policies in order to expand actions to combat the climate in the tourism sphere.
The declaration emphasizes the acute need to speed up the actions to combat climate change in the tourist sector, urging the parties to reduce emissions and implement stable practices in the tourism sector.
