Joint Committee of the Council of Europe, which unites the management of PACE, representatives of Member States and the Secretary-General of the Organization, recommends applying an exceptional procedure to Russia, leading to the exclusion of this state from CE, said President PACE Tini Coke at a press conference in Strasbourg.
Tini Koks stated that during a meeting of the joint committee there was a consensus on the decision that should be officially accepted later on Friday:
“I have long been in PACE, and for the first time I see such unity at all levels. The decision for the Committee of Ministers, but in understanding that (expected decision) is Article 8 – suspension of the participation of the Russian Federation in all bodies of the Council of Europe,” Coke quotes European truth. “
Formally, this decision must adopt the CE Ministerial Committee, the meeting of which will be held in the evening, but Koks stressed several times that only one action option is considered.
“Starting the war against Ukraine, Russia gave an answer that she could not be part of our organization,” the coke noted.
