In Istanbul, the Republic Cup held in the framework of the V presidential international yacht races was held.
The event was seized when organizing the Istanbul Yacht Club (İayyk) under the auspices of the Presidential Administration with the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Youth and Sports in cooperation with the administrations of the Governor of Istanbul and the Turkish Federation of Sailing Sports. DHL Express acted as a sponsor, the Anadola agency – a global information partner.
The race, held as part of the V presidential international yacht races, started on October 26 and ended with the Cup of the Republic.
On the day of the Republic of Yachtsmen from around the world, the memory of the founder of the Turkish Republic of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his associates before the Palace Dolmabahche honored with a minute of silence.
In an interview with Anadol, the head of the Istanbul yacht club ̇ayyk, Ekrey Yemlihaglu, said that 88 teams from 14 different countries took part in the competitions.
According to him, the race route passing through the Istanbul Strait is unique.
