The opening ceremony of the branch of the Czech Embassy in Israel took place on Vashnigton Street in Jerusalem. The ceremony was attended by Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babish, Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, Internal Security Minister Amir Ohana and ambassadors of both countries.
The branch of the Czech embassy became the fifth diplomatic mission in Jerusalem, following the embassies of the United States and Guatemala and the diplomatic missions of Hungary and Australia.
Previously, the Czech Republic planned to open a cultural center in Jerusalem. The decision to open a branch of the embassy was the result of Israel’s agreement to transfer a batch of coronavirus vaccines to Prague.
