Turkey is a strategic ally for Syria in a public, cultural, economic and military plan. In a conversation with the Anadola agency, the governor Damascus Maher Marvan, appointed by the new Syrian authorities, said.
“The Syrian and Turkish peoples are the brotherly peoples, their hearts are one from the very beginning of the revolution,” he said.
According to him, the Syrians will never forget the huge support that the Turkish people showed them.
The governor emphasized that the recent visit of the Foreign Minister of Turkey Hakan Fidan to Damascus strengthened the prospects for the relations of the two fraternal peoples. He also drew attention to Turkey’s cooperation with the current Syrian administration.
Marvan noted that “after the liberation of Syria in society, cohesion and harmony increased.” “Previously, Syria was a kind of mosaic, and the overthrown regime tried to divide it and spread confessionalism and discrimination,” he explained.
He emphasized that the new Syrian authorities make active efforts to eliminate these negative phenomena. “Women, men, various religious and ethnic groups, all now have equal rights. We are in a period when there is no discrimination,” the governor said.
The governor said that the new authorities seek to return life to a normal direction in all provinces of the country. “Now we are paving the path that will determine the future,” he said.
The agency’s interlocutor expressed hope for an influx of investment in the Syria economy, including the capital of the country of Damascus.
