Davos Discussed Opportunities For Business In Republic Of Moldova

The regional energy situation and opportunities for business in the Republic of Moldova were discussed on the fields of the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Davos.

Prime Minister Dorin Republic met with representatives of a number of international companies, as well as with businessmen from Switzerland, IPN reports.

In particular, the rennation with Tim Holt took place, a member of the Executive Council of Siemens Energy, which is part of the construction of electrical substations of the high-voltage air line of the 400 kV vulkenest-kishinev.

The interlocutors spoke about the progress of work and the need to accelerate them in order to complete the construction by the end of this year. The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the project to strengthen the energy security of Moldova.

The energy situation in the region also became the main topic of the meeting of the Republic with Maxim Timchenko, the Executive Director of DTEK – the largest energy company of Ukraine. Joint efforts were discussed to ensure the security of the energy market in two states, the unification of energy systems, an increase in the production of renewable energy and the development of energy accumulation systems.

The Moldavian Prime Minister also met with several Swiss businessmen as part of a round table organized by Gi Parmelin, vice president, head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Switzerland. The dialogue was attended by a number of officials from the State Secretariat on Economic Affairs, as well as representatives of the leadership of international companies Holcim, WorkFashion, Swiss Textiles.

During the discussions, the main attention was paid to the agreement on free trade between the Republic of Moldova and East and how it can contribute to the trade and diversification of markets for domestic products.

Prime Minister took part in a panel discussion dedicated to the elections held as part of the Davos Economic Forum.

Republic spoke about the risks of foreign interference in the election process and the experience of the Republic of Moldova in the organization of transparent, free and fair elections.

Another panel discussion, held with the participation of Prime Minister Republic, was devoted to sustainable water management in the context of climate change.

The Prime Minister also took part in round tables and discussions to accelerate the transition to green energy, encourage investment in renewable energy sources and building a stable economy to maintain peace.
