Delegation of food security agency held fruitful meetings in Uzbekistan

The delegation led by the chairman of the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency Goshgar Tahmazli visited Uzbekistan on a working visit. The agency’s press service told Haqqin.az that during the visit, meetings were held with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khramon Yuldashev, the head of the quarantine and protection of plants by Ibrahim Ergashev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Veterinary Medical Academy of Law -Epidemiological welfare and public health service Bahadur Yusupaliev.

During the meetings, Goshgar Takhmazli spoke in detail about the mission and activities of the Azerbaijan Food Safety Agency, created as part of institutional reforms conducted by the President of Azerbaijan. According to Tahmazli, the APB is working in Azerbaijan to ensure food security and ensure the population of healthy and environmentally friendly agricultural products. Paying special attention to international cooperation in this area, the APB established close relations with the World Animal Health Organization (OIE), the Codex Alimentarius Commission, and the International Plant Health Organization (IPPC) and other international organizations. At the same time, in the scope of APB, which focuses on issues of import-export of food and food security in trade, it includes control of low, medium and high risk products at border checkpoints.

At a meeting with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, the directions of further cooperation were determined, in particular, the organization of the work of the Ministry of Import and Export of Agricultural Products was discussed together with other state bodies.
