Denmark Prime Ministers: USA “cannot Annex Another Country”, Even For International Security Reasons

USA “cannot annex another country,” even if it is justified by international security considerations. This was announced during the visit to the island of Greenland by the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Fredericksen, commenting on the statements of US President Donald Trump.

Meeting both the new and the old leaders of Greenland, Fredericksen noted that Denmark is a reliable ally in NATO.

“If we, as allies, allow us to share ourselves, we will provide the service of our enemies,” said Prime Minister Denmark, promising to do everything possible so that this does not happen.

“When you ask our companies to invest in the United States, they do it. When you ask us to spend more on our defense, we do this. When you ask us to strengthen safety in the Arctic, we agree with this,” continued Fredericksen.

“But when you demand to seize part of the territory of the Kingdom of Denmark, when we are faced with pressure and threats from our closest ally, which we must believe in the country that we admired for so many years? We are talking about the world, which we are building together on the other side of the Atlantic. We cannot annexate another country, even for considerations of international security,” she emphasized.

Prime Minister Denmark urged the United States to strengthen security in the Arctic with joint efforts.

Trump since his return to the White House has repeatedly expressed a desire to take Greenland under US control, arguing this with the need to ensure international security.
