In Azerbaijan, gender selection continues, which threatens the appearance in the future of great problems of demographic nature, said Ganir Pashaeva deputy during the discussion in the Milli Majlis of the annual report of the executive body exercising control over the provision of gender equality.
According to her, despite the adopted prohibitive laws, in 2022 gender selection in Azerbaijan exceeded the indicators of 2021.
“The gender imbalance exceeds the permissible thresholds. 115 boys are born per 100 girls. Governmental measures must be taken even more effective measures to prevent further gender imbalance,” said G. Pashayeva.
