Deputy Prime Minister Moldova: In Near Future, Republic Will Double Efforts To Join EU

In the near future, the Republic of Moldova will double its efforts to join the European Union, and Chisinau continues to count on Romania’s support.

This is the deputy prime minister on European integration, Kristina Gerasimov stated at the annual meeting of Romanian diplomacy in Bucharest, Moldipers reports.

Gerasimov expressed confidence that the process of expanding the European Union should be based on the merits of each Candidate state. “We know that progress will largely depend on how we take this historical opportunity, and firmly believe in the expansion process based on the merits of each state,” said Deputy Prime Minister.

Kristina Gerasimov thanked Romanian diplomacy for the “constant support” provided by the Republic of Moldova, and for the “promotion of the European path” of the country.

She also emphasized the contribution of Romania to the “Historical decision” to begin negotiations on the entry of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine to the EU.

The Deputy Prime Minister Moldova noted that Romania’s experience in the process of entering, as well as the ability to “have direct access to the community legislation in the Romanian language” will be very useful for the Republic of Moldova in the process of joining the EU.

The Romania Foreign Ministry organizes the annual meeting of Romanian diplomacy on July 24-25. The event collects the heads of diplomatic and consular missions of Romania, directors of cultural institutions abroad, as well as high -ranking Romanian officials and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest.

The special guests of the Foreign Minister Luminitsa approval are: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Olga Stepanishin and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Kristina Gerasimov.
