Milli Milli Majid Akhmedov, the government called on the government to take effective measures to reduce beef prices, which increased sharply from 14 to 17 manat per kilogram.
In an interview with Haqqin.az correspondent, Akhmedov said that the government has all the necessary opportunities and mechanisms to stabilize market prices for meat without additional costs.
“We have to import a considerable amount of meat from abroad, – the deputy noted.” It should be understood that the import of expensive imported meat stimulates the increase in prices and the increase in inflation in the domestic market of Azerbaijan. Our farmers also complain about the sharp rise in the cost of feed and feed additives for which 70 percent of all expenses are in livestock. Annually, Azerbaijan imports up to three million tons of feed for cattle and is about the same amount of our farmers. At the same time, a speculative factor clearly takes place in the price jump, with which already already The food security agency is seriously versed. “
touching the struggle against objective reasons for rising prices in the food market, Vakhid Akhmedov said:
“We have been fighting for five years to ensure that VAT on the main food products is reduced from 18 to 1-2 percent. Not forever, of course, at least a year or two, until comprehensive approaches to solve the problem of high costs are developed . It is also necessary to reset a 15 percent customs fee for imported food products. These are the very levers that will reduce food prices, in particular, for meat, and which the state for some reason does not use. “
According to Vakhid Akhmedov, after Milli Majlis soon considers the state budget for 2023, unused funds will certainly remain in the current budget, which can be used without problems to stabilize prices in the food market.
The said deputy of the Milli Majlis should be added that, according to the State Customs Committee, in January-September of this year, Azerbaijan imported meat worth $ 51.9 million. This is 8 percent more than in 2021. In total, 28.9 thousand tons of imported meat were brought to the country, which is 2.9 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
