The United States wants to conclude a trade agreement with Taibe to deepen the ties with the island contrary to Beijing’s objections, writes Politico.
Washington and Taibay agreed on the conditions of negotiations for bilateral trade agreements. The first round can pass this fall. The department of the US trading representative issued a mandate for negotiations. The parties will not talk about a decrease in tariffs, but they will discuss agreements in areas such as agriculture, customs procedures, regulation, fight against corruption and small and medium -sized enterprises.
“We plan to adhere to an ambitious schedule to achieve high standards of obligations and significant results covering eleven trading areas within the framework of the negotiation mandate, which will help to build a more fair, more prosperous and stable economy of the 21st century,” said Deputy Trading Representative of the United States Sarah Byanka.
The first in early autumn will be held under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan and Taibai Economic and Cultural Representation in Washington.
Washington expects a trading contract to deepen trade and investment relations, promote mutual trade priorities based on common values, and will contribute to innovations and inclusive economic growth for our workers and enterprises.
